Excellent Resource!

Project members are submitting family Gedcom outlines (Family Trees), which are being uploaded to each members page.

More than half of the project members have this information listed on their individual project member page.

This provides site visitors as well as project members, with information on ancestor, locale and time lines.

For those project members who have not submitted them to me yet, PLEASE remember this is a crucial step in proven research.

32/37 Marker Comparisons

Kits C4BMF, 3W275 & C4BMF were not tested through the same facility. They had 43 markers tested, but not all were the same as those tested at FTDna, so I can only provide comparisons for those markers which were duplicated.

DESCENDANTS OF John Manley
OF England

Family Gedcom Outline

*1st Generation
John manley
B: circa 1634
D. Unknown
M; Agnes Carswell, Sept. 15, 1658, Milverton, Somerset, England
Notes: The children of John are found in the Milverton parish register. What is interesting is that half of the children are listed as having a mother called Anne and the other half a mother called Agnes. The reason why I have grouped these together is because there is evidence that seems to indicate that they are all the same family and Anne is actually Agnes. There is a will of Simon Manly of Sampford Peverell (not to hand at the moment) that mentions his brothers John in Milverton, William in Topsham and Nathan in Lympstone. This is circa 1730/40 and so ties in well with Simon, John, William and Nathan all being of same parentage. Unfortunately the will which was held at Exter Record Office appears to have been destroyed during the blitz, however there is an extract of it which provides this information that the RO still holds.

Understanding DNA testing.

A basic primer on DNA testing and genealogy

How many markers and where to test?

We strongly encourage project members to test for 25(+) markers, to generate more accurate results.

For those earliest members of our project, we would love to see those who can, upgrade to the 25(+)

FamilyTreedNA provides group discounts for testing through projects conducted through them.

They provide comparisons to other project members and others in their database, Haplogroup results, as well as "RECENT ETHNIC ORIGINS (REO) Database of genetic test results".

It is not required that all individuals participate through FamilyTreedNA, but those submitting results from other facilities (Such as DNAHeritage) will take longer to have their results included in the project and they will not have the "RECENT ETHNIC ORIGINS (REO) Database of genetic test results".
