Cecil, Nice site!
I think the thing that brought the whole thing to life for me, while
traveling from Omaha to Portland on the Interstate system, was the idea that
every 10 minutes I traveled as far as they did on a good day.

Loved your comparison trip along the Oregon Trail.  Would have loved to
see photos of what has replaced the forests in some places.

Hi Cecil... all of your pages look great.  Thanks for continuing to enter them
into the webring.

I appreciate your contrasts.  One COMMON thread for both you and they is
road rage.  Emigrants regularly argued with each other at ferries, fords
and bridges; got up early or ran late to get ahead of someone else.  There
are many stories that emigrants threatened the ferry operator or toll
collector (white and indian)  with bodily harm.

Cecil,
This is week two of the first of three eight week college classes on the
"Three Oregon Trails" that I teach. Fall term covers the "Early Trail
1836-1845." My database contains Ninevah and Nathaniel Ford as well as the
entire Sager family. It is never too late to add to the dB. So far we have
covered genealogical info about the selected pioneers - birth, early life,
education, marriage, age on the trail, etc; motivations for coming to
Oregon; and preparations for the trip. By having about sixty people in each
dB (Early Trail 1836-1845, Classic Trail 1846-1848, and Crowded Trail
1849-1869) I have enough quotes to give the lectures in "their own words."

You have a fantastic website. I have loved every minute I have spent reading
the info you have on it.
And thank you, Walt.

Keep on keeping on.............

Good site, "Grandpa", I like your short-n-to-the-point style and it's a
contribution to the Lore of Western Settlement

This is an absolutely incredible site! I've enjoyed it several times and
have never seen it all. You've done a wonderful job!

Hi Cecil:
Love your page and if you don't mind, I will put a link on my county
page to it to give people an idea of the trip across the "Great
American Dessert" part.
Thanks again.  Love the pictures and the narrative.  Really a good
comparison.
Liz

Cecil:
I want to congratulate you on all the photographs you have and the detailed
work you have done, and the help you give.
Thank you (and your nice wife, too),
Carol

Cecil:
What a great page,  I'm always interested in stories of the Oregon Trail.
I'm surprised that there are college courses related to it.  Henry Sager is
my 1st cousin 3 times removed.

Cecil:
Thank you very much for your wonderful website, especially all of the
information about the emigrants on the Oregon Trail and what it was like
when they reached "The Promised Land" !!!!!

Cecil
Thank you for the fantastic trip across the Oregon Trail and other
points west.  Your website is wonderful and the armchair trip was great!

Cecil:
"AND SO TIME PASSED" makes a wonderful finale to that section of your
website!!
