The Monett Times, Friday, February 11, 1910
One of the most enjoyable social events of the season was given last night at Campbell's Hall, the affair being a barn dance.
The affair was planned and executed by a club of the younger people who call themselves the Jolly Ten. The club members are James Day, Dick Mills, Roger Matthews, Earl Callaway, Carl Saxe, Misses Gladys Price, Myrtle White, Maude Gibbons, Mary Harris and Vera Feist.
About sixty took part in the affair and all wore costumes appropriate to the occasion. The young ladies wore gingham aprons and sun bonnets and the young men wore whatever their idea of a hayseed costume demanded. Old linen dusters, swallow-tailed coats, plug hats, etc., made up comical costumes.
One corner of the hall was converted into a unique cozy corner by the use of bailed hay.
The program for the evening was informal and all spent a happy evening. The mothers who chaperoned the party enjoyed the merriment as well as the young people.
Logan McKee took a flash light picture of the party.
