YWCA, built in 1931

The YWCA was organized in Hamilton on February 25, 1900 under the leadership of Julia Goodman.  The association's first home was at 109 North Third Street.  It occupied several other locations until it moved to the former YMCA at Third and Dayton Streets in 1914. A new building was constructed in 1931 at the same location.  By 1933, during the depression, the number of young women participating in YWCA programs recahed 20,000 per month.
