One of the Greatest Industries of Southern Ohio, 1916 The immense plant of the Hamilton Otto Coke Co., modern and up to date in every particular, is located directly north of the city of Hamilton. It extends over an area of twenty acres and lies between the tracks of the Pennsylvania railroad which border on the west, and the Cincinnati, Hamilton, and Dayton tracks, which border the plant on the east. |
The electric power is generated at the coke plant and delivered to the district station at Hamilton, is under the direction of the Hamilton Utilities Company. The gas which is manufactured at the coke plant is piped from the plant to the big holders at Hamilton and distributed to the consumers in this city as well to the consumers in the outlying districts through high pressure lines. . .
Work on the plant was originally begun in 1900 and during
the following year fifty coke ovens were completed and the Hamilton Otto
Coke Co. began business at the village which now bears its name. . .
The one hundred ovens turn out 350 tons of coke each
day.
