Masonic Temple, Hamilton
The Masonic Fraternity in Hamilton dates back to 1811 seven men requested that a lodge be established in their city.  These first members were Mathew Huston, Joseph Potter, William Wallace, Robert Taylor, Thomas Blair, Alexander Sackett and Joseph Hough.  The lodge has had several different meeting places over the years including the Thomas Blair tavern at Second and Court Streets.  In 1838 they acquired land at Third and Dayton Street and built a new lodge there.

In 1886, the lodge agreed to lease the third floor of a new building to be erected at High and Riley Streets.  They leased space in this building until land was purchased on March 5, 1926, for the erection of a new temple at High between Seventh and Eighth Streets.  The first meeting in the new building was held November 27, 1928.
