| The Aeronautical Corporation of America (Aeronca) began
operations in its Middletown plant in June of 1940. The company had
three airplanes which it manufactured, the "Chum," "Champion," and "Chief."
The aircraft were sold to flying schools, foreign governments and also
individuals.
During World War II, the company manufactured planes exclusively for defense. In the succeeding years, production of missile components and defense aircraft continued. |
