The Bozeman household
was recorded with Jasper, aged 40, his wife Marcina*, 37, and children, Emma P.,
12, Sarah J., 11, Mary A., 10, William J., 9, Florence I., 6., Clara, E., 3, and
Jasper L., 2. Their neighbors were the John H. Blanton and Thomas Brown
families. Jasper Bozeman's occupation was recorded as "getting
shingles".
COMPILER'S NOTE:
The census taker recorded that Marcina was
ill on census day. The entry for the occupation of Jasper Bozeman reads "getting
shingles". This may have been a child's answer as the mother was sick. Jasper
Bozeman lived near his great uncle, Amos Stacey, who was a timberman in the area
before the sawmill was built at Manistee. Cedar trees are common to the area
where they lived and cedar was used for shingles.
