#6917-Jesse Burrell: "That I am 65 years of age. I claim my Indian descent through my mother and her father. My father was white. My grandmother was white I think. My grandfather on my mother's side was named Andy Brown. My mother was born and raised in Buncombe County, NC. She came to Gilmer Co., GA forty years ago; since the war. All the time before that she lived in Buncombe Co., NC among the Indians. She was 1/2 Indian but I don't know where she had any part in the tribal councils or not. My mother was 65 or 70 years old when she died and she died since the war. I was enrolled about 12 or 15 years ago by Lock Langly. I paid him $12.50 and he went off to the Ter with it. That was in the Dawes Commission. I never heard anything more of it. I nor none of my ancestors were ever on any roll. I nor by brothers and sisters never lived with the Indians as a member of the tribe. I am recognized as white with some Indian blood. Never heard that any of my people ever received anything from the government. Sarah Haygood is the only sister living and she lives in Licklog, GA. My wife is white.
