Some of the photos have notes on the back and some say that the photos were taken in DaNang,Vietnam, The majority of the photos however had no notes.Wayne Bowen was stationed at the supply depot at the Old french fort at the foot of Marble Mountain.

Document with images :Scanned image & transcription of a newspaper article written by Bob Schieffer of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram The article appeared in the paper February 4th ,1966 and was headlined as " Texas pair Keeping watch Over 'Alamo' of Viet Nam" Schieffer spoke with & wrote about Gunnery Sgt. Wayne Bowen & Lance Cpl. George H. Stroudtman in the article.

This history contributed by JoAnn Osborn of Michigan, USA was written by Addison Theodarus Green in approx. 1928. Mrs Osborn received this from from an unknown contributor, who himself had recieved it from an unknown and unnamed contributor.Item 38 [ Mack Bowen of Wichita County,Texas c 1865 ]
This story, garnered from the collection at the American Memories collection, library of Congress is from from the Wichita Daily Times, Sept. 18, 1938.And tells the story as recounted by Mrs. Quisenberry of the years around from 1861-1865 "at the close of the civil war". In the story Mrs. Quisenberry tells of the Death of Mack Bowen at the hands of the local native Indians.And refers to the genral conditions of the day.

"In the spring of 1855, my father, W. M. Dickson was a home guard at Kerrville. Old Bill Bowen was a home guard in Atascosa County. The Indians came, to steal whatever they could get away with. In 1999 Mrs. Sheila heater of Luling in Caldwell County Texas found two headstones under a house that was being demolished. the following is an abstract of her letter. [Also see]Mr. Bowen,
I'm sure you'll find this strange, but I think I have found a couple of your family's tombstones on my family's land near Luling, Texas. (CALDWELL COUNTY) The two tombstones were found at the old Moore family home about two years ago when it was being demolished (I think they were under the house.)........The engravings on the stones are as follows:
