Enoch Malin was employed as carpenter and mill builder. He and his family moved to Canada, where he died. In 1796, he had eloped with Eliza, the only daughter of Sarah (Skilton) Richards, who had a prominent position within the Universal Friend's Society. Because this couple later conveyed some land to the Botsfords, to which the Society felt that they were not entitled, they became involved in a land dispute that led to litigation which caused a great deal of worry and expense for the Universal Friend and members of her Society. Although Enoch and Eliza (Richards) Malin had died prior to June, 1817, when the case was finally set for trial, their sons were substituted in their place in the lawsuit heard in Ontario Co., NY.
