LOUISE OLD TOWN CEMETERY PHOTOS

LOUISE,TEXAS

This cemetery looks as if it has been abandoned for many many years. One person told me that at one time someone went in and cleared the cemetery out but as you will see from the photos it has been a long time since then. Apparently this is the old town cemetery from the early 1900's. There are some very large stones in it. Among some of the names are Peterson, Cox, Henderson, Miller, Gonzalez and Walker as well as many others. I took pictures from the trail, thru the brush and a shot of how I found each stone. This is a very large cemetery and I am sure if it was cleaned up that many more stones would be found than what I found. I stood in the middle of this cemetery with tears in my eyes, as this is such a shame that the first citizens of this wonderful town are forgotten in this way. There are white and mexican graves here.

The flowers at least bloom every spring in rememberance that at one time someone did care that a loved one was buried here.
