“White folks…in Louise, as
well as those of his own race are
saddened at the passing of the
old darkey known to everyone as
“Uncle Orange”, whose death re-
sulted last week from pneumonia.
Uncle Orange, who was a slave in
his youth was one of the old-time
polished darkies who respected
his white friends to a degree that
almost bordered on reverance.
Most of his time was spent in
cleaning yards, mowing lawns,
preparing flower beds of various
kinds and ever kind and helpful
[this line at fold and unreadable]
[??]well deserved reward leaving
behind members of a useful and
upright life to those who knew
him.
