History of Greene County,
Pennsylvania
JOHN MEEK, a successful farmer, P. O. Rutan, Penn., was born in Washington Township,
this county, May 29, 1833. His parents,
John and Elizabeth (Boyd) Meek, were also natives of this county, where
they remained
until their death. On October 15, 1859,
John Meek was united in marriage with Jane Simpson.
Mrs. Meek was born in Greene
County, February 7, 1840, and
is a
daughter of John and Mary (Auld) Simpson,
Her father was born in Greene County,
Penn., and her mother was a native of Ireland. Both died in this county.
Mr. and Mrs. Meek have three children—Miles,
John W. and Ottawa
A. Mr. Meek has been engaged in farming
all his life, and owns 224 of land where he and family reside. Mr. and Mrs. Meek are leading members in the Methodist Protestant Church.
