Pennsylvania
HENRY BOWLER, retired farmer, Rogersville,
Penn.—The gentleman whose name heads
this
sketch is well known in Center
Township, having
lived on
his present farm since the date of his birth, May 27, 1818. His parents were John and Mary Bowler, the
former
a native of Maryland and the latter
of Greene County, Penn.,
where they resided until their death.
Mrs. Bowler died in 1819, and her husband in 1845.
On June 5, 1849, Henry Bowler married
Penelope Stewart, who was born in the county in 1815.
Her parents were William and Naoma Stewart,
natives of Pennsylvania, who departed
this
life in Monroe County,
Ohio.
To Mr. and Mrs. Bowler were born two children—Elizabeth S., wife
of
Stephen Knight; and William, who married Ruth Seckman.
Mrs. Bowler departed this life December 31,
1880. Mr. Bowler was reared on a farm
and engaged very successfully in farming during the more active part of
his
life. He is the owner of about 237 acres
of land in Center
Township. In politics he is a Republican.
