Family, The Church, and Property Ownership were primary values of the early settlers. The records reflect these attitudes. AA County land records were lost when the court house burned and consequently, as well as fortunately, many deeds show a chain of title when they were re-recorded. I have consulted the land records published by the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society containing abstracted land records from 1653-1728. The Land Records give insight into how early people related to one another and pursued things that mattered in their daily lives. These are details that provide clues to their identity.
As will be found in information and methodology within other pages presented on American Crossroads pages, one does not have to have a specific interest in William Pennington to gain insight into the process of combining a variety of historical and genealogical records to develop a good genealogical profile of any person researched. Analyzing and interpreting the life and times of William Pennington the Puritan sheds light on many other Maryland Families, and vice versa. The goal is learning where he and his family fit in and the role they played.
