HOMECOMING
THE PENNINGTON & TUCKER FAMILIES
THE FAMILIES IN THE MID-WEST
This is the homestead cabin William Marion Pennington built about 1875 in Frontier County, Nebraska
This picture was published in the Arapahoe Mirror
According to Herbert Allen, a descendant of the Allen family pioneers of Frontier County, Nebraska, when the first white settlers arrived, the Medicine Creek area of the county was a virtual prairie Garden of Eden. Game was plentiful with deer, wild turkeys, and buffalo in abundance. The nearest town was Arapaho, in Furnas County.

Herbert Allen erected this marker as a memorial to the pioneer families who lived in the Medicine Creek settlement. When the graves were threatened by the rising waters of Harry Strunk Lake, he petitioned the Corps of Engineers to have the graves moved. In 1972, as a living relative, I was able to sign the necessary documents to have this accomplished, and was able in 1978 to meet Mr. Allen and see the new location.
